Video 2. SOUTHERN SHAOLIN ELBOW TECHNIQUE

The Southern Shaolin elbow technique in the history of Chinese Kung Fu was clouded in mystery. A tutors taught only selected disciples this technique in top secrecy. Moreover, those disciples had to be the best not only in Kung Fu, but also had to achieve a great success in Chang Buddhism. That's why the Southern Shaolin elbow technique was known to small number of monks, not to say about those who practiced the Shaolin pugilistic art outside the monastery. This secrecy was kept to avoid the situation when bad people could know this technique, as masters in the Shaolin elbow technique became practically invulnerable and could defeat masters in any other styles of Kung Fu.

The secrets of the fighting use of Shaolin elbow techniques were revealed to master Alexander Popov* by his tutor Sun Ming Chun (1904-1988). The methods are demonstrated with actual fighting speed. Some protective outfit is used to prevent serious traumas. A few variants are shown for each method (depending on enemy's actions, his position, distance and so on). Everything is shown in details at different camera angles as well as in slow-motion.

Warning: The methods shown in the film belong to a fighting section (not sports section!) of Kung Fu. If you are going to use this film as a teaching guide it is necessary to be careful during training and to mind the speed and the strength of blows. Thoughtless use of those methods can cause serious traumas!
